All hail the Dodge Ram SRT

hem·i /ˈhɛmi/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[hem-ee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

–noun Automotive. an internal-combustion engine having hemispherical combustion chambers.

Hemi, is not a term used as a tool for production. It is the way the motor is made, with differnt combustion chambers that makes the motor react differnt. I can understand all the hemi stuff getting on your nerves. I like dodges I'm not going to lie. But I'm not going to say theres not better trucks out there. Theres other quick trucks out there. For example the new Tundra, the Nissan Titan, the 5.7 hemi, the Chevy 5.3 or SS.
I believe what he means by his statement is.....

The new hemis although having the hemispherical combustion chambers are not the same old hemi from the past, even then there was only one decent hemi, the 426 I believe. Its what gave hemi its name.

By bringing the hemi engines back they sparked a new market for people who wanted to think or believe they were part of the old 426 hemi days.

Thats what I believe he was meaning.

Actually I do have a past with racing, what I was saying is that in recent years it has been more of a marketing tool for chrylser than anything else, I know full well the inner working of a hemispherical engine, but you also must realize many engines have been made with this design that are not made be chrysler but people do not realize that the "hemi" is not some elusive magic motor design. I will admit that it was a great marketing strategy for them. On a little side note one time me and my friend and his girl were racing around in my grand national and ended up blowing of a boost line, and I was under the hood working on it with my buddy and she asked if it was a hemi:eek: both me and my friend proceeded to yell at her, we still harass her about it to this day.

That too, I was going to mention something along those lines in my post but forgot, thanks for picking up the slack.

dang buncha mopar haters out here. i think the SRT was just a fun thing. hey lets throw our most powerful engine into one of our most sold trucks and see what we can get out of it. i really dont think it was designed to race a track and win or anything. its still a truck. it can tow a lot of chet and if you ever want to have fun with some ricer or something, you have the power on tap. i highly doubt that they completely designed it from the ground up to beat ther fastest trucks on the planet... hence its looking the same with some ground effects and rims. ive seen a hennessey ram here in mesquite that would destroy all of the other trucks, but its aftermarket. i really dont see why they sent it to hennessey.. its a truck. eff it i would just buy a small truck to do my towing, then a fast car for racing.

I've always thought sport trucks were a ridiculous concept. Horrible handing, sub-par performance, high price tag. And the utilitarian argument might as well just be thrown out the door. Nobody is going to want to scratch up the bed of their precious viper-truck.

are you retarded? the Xrunner has almost identical #'s to the 350Z on the skidpad..

something like .8gs

OH yeah, me too I have wanted a syclone(the truck version) to go along with my grand national ever since I got it.

See the thing is they are quicker, like let's say it was a 1/8th mile run, the sy and tys would come out on top 9/10 times. In the quarter the srt starts to flex its muscle a bit more so it would be a alot closer o f a race. The advantage of the sys and tys is the traction factor, the launching procedure for them is simple, stage, stand on the brakes, give it some gas to spool the turbo until the truck starts shaking, when the light turns let off the brake and mash the gas, and finally hold on for dear life.

Agreed.

It all depends on your taste, if you need something to be able to haul some wood or tow or anything like that then a truck is essential, and if that is all you have might as well make it fast;). Like our towing truck it's a 07 F-350 CC LB with the 6.0l Turbo diesel, we put a custom tune, intake, and exhaust and now the thing dynos 425rwhp and 740rwtq. It is a hell of a sleeper and surprised many cars who thought they were fast. I was going to tow my grand national out to a 1/8th mile drag strip that is fairly close and run both the grand national and the towing truck for fun but unfortunately it got rained out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well I am just going on memory being I was in the Typhoon years ago and recently, well about 1 year ago in a SRT. Was funny, cause I brought up the typhoon to him and he was like what is that? I had to laugh being he owned such a beast of a truck. I just remember when he smashed on it saying I think he would have gave the typhoon a run for its money, then I laughed again cause he said he would have to check into that. Was some kid I knew that my dad did an exhaust system for at his shop and asked me if I wanted to go on a run. So of course I had to take the run, lol!

With all that said, I would still rather get a typhoon or a syclospe(sp). Hell just to make fun of the little v6 smokin' the big boys. Then again I do that with my 4 banger right now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

the heads on the new hemi engine, flow ridiculousy well, if you can tune the truck, you can make it fast. i had a 75 shot, cai, and magnaflow exhaust on a 03 2dr, 13.8 @ 101, not crazy fast but for a 5k # truck, it would beat most on the street.

Yes it's always fun blowing away the big boys with the little 6s, I love doing it in my grand national.

Wow 13.8 with spray? Our F-350 Diesel ran a 14.2 with just tuning a cut exhaust and a intake. And it wasn't even a good run.

yea a diesel thats puttind down , 750 lb ft of tq, of course you did, you cant drive every day with the truck tuned like that unless you beef up the ******, it gets too hot. i wasnt even claiming the truck was that fast, ive seen ppl run 12's in quad cabs with bigger shots, but for a daily driver it was quick

The Hemi is definitly a respectable motor. It's the most widely used engine in motorsports today for a reason. Instead of making a mockery of it, Dodge could have branded it a "Poly". Which would probably save 90% of the Hemi Vs. Semi-Hemi arguments today. There is no best or worst auto manufacturer, they each have their pros and cons. But I'll second the idea of trying to make vehicles like an F-150 or a Ram 'street legal racers', dumb.

Excuse me but the truck is driven every day with that tune, the ****** temps are welll under control even if pushing it. I actually have a much wilder tune file that I'm saving for a rainy day;)
