This kind of backwards, redneck, bible loving but not understanding thinking is why I'm embarrassed to say where I'm from. In the NAVY we have a lot of gays, both men and women. They do just as much or more than everyone else, they deserve the same rights. Everyone saying the bible says it's not right.. Nobody lives a perfect life according to a book that has been reworded countless times by people that had no idea what was going on outside of 500 miles.

Alabama has got it correct!

Gay couples do deserve equal rights but Marriage is not a right. Marriage is a definitions, It means a union of a man and a women. (it would be like calling your car a motorcycle. You can do that but it will always be a car)

You should divide marriage into 2 category's religious, and governmental.

In the religious category, marriage is Straight forward 1 man 1 women, there is no rights involved, and i think most people still today get married for religious reasons. now if a religion pops up and has Gay unions, fine but it still should not be call marriage.

In the Government category, Marriage has benefits (not really rights) giving buy our government to protect and encourage raising intact family's, because en-tact family's (kids) help our society grow in a way that is productive to our society.

Most of these "marriage benefits" aren't helpful to our society when it comes to couples without kids gay or straight. But some of these benefits are like rights and should be afforded to any kind of couple, weather gay or straight.

So yeah somethings need to change but not Marriage. At least that's what this Bible Lover believes.
