Al Gore may be sued for Global Warming

I dont see how people cant think that all these refineries and companies that are spewing out tons of black smoke every day cant have some sort of lasting effect on our earth. Look up the blast from MT. st helens and see what effect that had on our earth and then think about the similarities between that and smoke.
And its amazing that every year the weather seems to get hotter and hotter down here....

Again, id rather us try and solve something that doesnt exist, then to sit idly by and have our world collapse.

And i dont see how its costing us civilians any more money, maybe our tax dollars are being spent but hell i dont agree with half the way the gov't spend that money, i see it effecting large corporations which IMHO SHOULD change the way they operate and become more efficient, i believe it will make a better world in the long run, but im obviously outnumbered on this one.

Back during the industrial revolution companeys produced a lot more smoke. There were no regulations they did what ever they wanted. They did all kinds of things that were bad for the enviroment. Why didnt they have any problems with global warming, why is just hitting us now.

Uhhhggg, i dunno, maybe 200 years of pullution is finally catching up to us?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

For some reason i would think that it would happen gradually.

Record highs every year isnt gradual?

Go look at the temperatures in your area 100 years ago, average temps and see what you come up with, then see what its been this year. Also, check rain stats as well. I dont know if it will prove me wrong or not, but i have a feeling your average is quite a bit higher now then it was then.

If people cared about the enviroment, they wouldent drink bottled water.
People are lazy, which trumps being careful and informed.
Actually, just copied and pasted that from my thought process. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Fail.
No but our fine earth leaves indications of everything that has happened.
ORLY?

maybe your a tree hugger?

scare tactics for the masses so that they use your point of view?

just like the scare tactics that are used saying there are less trees now in the US and how we have to protect forests... when there are 7% more trees in the US than in 1900...

200 years since the start of the industrial revolution... good job buddy, pat yourself on the back. you can read and watch/believe everything you see on tv. congrats.

if a single volcano is bad...think about how many smaller eruptions occur, not to mention they have been spewing things in the air for more than 200 years //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Oh thats good, lets resort to name-calling since i dont agree with your point of view.

Scare tactics? Hardly. I just find it arrogant to assume that what we do has no lasting effect on our world.

And sure, volcanoes have had many eruptions, thats not really the point i was trying to make, eventually most of what was throw in the air from st. helens fell back to earth, since it did start from here, but we are talking about smoke that is made from chemically changing a mineral. Now where do you think that smoke ends up? It doesnt just disapear.

The point i was trying to make was that when that eruption hit, it blew tons of ash and dirt into the air, which cooled the earth and blocked out the sun. This was one eruption so it was obvious when it happened, our pollution is a much slower process but certainly can be compared.

That are open to interpretation.

Again, there is not enough empirical evidence to say 100% one way or the other. If there were, this wouldn't even be a debate.

Damn tree hugger.

Of course, and i dont fully believe that it does exist, but again. I would rather us do something to prevent it since we dont KNOW, then to sit idly by and watch it happen.

it was more of a question actually...

we have an affect yes, but it's miniscule compared to all the natural occurings... eg: forest fires and volcanic eruptions...

science has shown that the earth has been having warm times and cold times in it's history before we could affect it. It is a natural occurence.

the things that were injected in the air from eruptions go straight to the stratosphere unlinke cars... the pollution from cars falls to the earth.

read some scientific reports on it that unbiased... the only ones that show up in the news are the ones that make people think that they are the number 1 reason for global warming.

in fact I knew a professor at OU that did a study that pointed to how the climate on earth gets warm and cold all the time... when a reporter interviewed him the reporter said that he wouldn't do the story due to the fact that the he wouldn't say that global warming was a man made occurrence.
