If 2.5 is more than what JL recommends your probably fine. JL is notorious for giving very undersized "optimal" enclosures. It cuts down on failure rates, not good for deep bass. Unless you find yourself bottoming them out there's no reason to make the box smaller, it just makes the amp work harder and makes the subs work harder for the same output.

they say .625 which is way tiny and like he said very undersized! 2.5 is good for 3 it is .15 or so more than spec.
