Aesthetics vs practical.

Looking at trunk builds like this. They look clean but how is the output. Most trunks cars have subs as close to the back as possible. Something like those make me think they only look good and dont get as loud or sound as clean as they could if they were closer to the back of the trunk.

It is an aesthetic thing. They still sound good but not as loud as they could being closer to rear so the soundwaves reflect off the trunk. But unless your chasing numbers it might be fine

I used to have a pair if jl w3's fiberglass in a trunk, loved the look and the sound. Slightly louder near the trunk, not worth it to me. Aesthetics win for me.

Sigh. There is a huge noticeable difference in having subs near the trunk vs anywhere else. I wonder if the fact that their walling off their trunk that gives them the same output as having subs near trunk.
It don't have to be close to the trunk. Who started that one?
@keep_hope_alive has a proper explanation for why you might gain.

My personal experiences all lead to noticeable increase in loudness when closer to the trunk lid vs extremely far back next to the seats on all instances, rattle only happens if you dont deaden very well. Audibly noticeable. Having it far back had a much more toned down sounding bass, more SQ-ish.
