advantages and disadvantages to quad voice coils?

im about to get my subwoofe(dd9518d) custom built and would like to no if this is a good idea for Daily SQL. it would be quad 2 or should i keep it dual 2 i would be runnin a AQ2200d not compeating just daily music(hip-hop). would like any input

Multiple coils give the advantage of multiple wiring options to allow you to achieve the maximum output from your amplifier. That's it, no other advantage. So, choose which ever coil option mates up to your amplifier.

quad's don't make much sense to me.

Just more complicated wiring.

Quad 2's give you 1/2, 2 or 8. So if you want to run your aq at optimal power you'd want the dual 2.

If you have to ask, you don't need quad coils. Keep it simple.

Wrong woofer if your looking for a daily sql sub.

Pros-

1-more than 2 coils

2-more than 3 coils

3-less than 5 coils

1- for what you are doing it helps in no way shape or form... it would actually hinder... and therefore makes no worldly sense...

just given it a try. it needs recone so might as well try it. eiather way it will be good for what i want(hopefuly) if not ill sell it for the price of recone and the motor
