may be the best back in football. al harris will now be made fun of in the packer locker room for weeks.
it's hard to argue against that. i don't think there is a "best ever". a top 10 maybe. earl campbell, walter payton, barry sanders, jim brown, emmit smith. there are so many backs in history to single out 1 as the best. they also do different things in different offenses. john riggins was an awesome power back in that redskins offense. right up there with jerome bettis in terms of power running. he's one of those backs noone talks about. same with quarterbacks. steve deberg was one of the more skilled quarterbacks in history, but he had guys like joe montana on the same team almost his whole career. football players can't be ranked like that in my opinion.sanders = best ever in my mind
you can't judge a players history that way. i grew up watching emmit, and hating the cowboys (lifetime broncos fan). emmit was one of the top 10 in history, even with the offensive line he had. by your standards, marshal faulk wasn't that great because they passed to him alot, which is nonsense. a person could even make an argument for Roger Craig being far too underrated. i'd bet that fans of other teams remember emmit and roger destroying their team, and making unbelievable moves on unblocked defenders. i remember both destroying my team.Emmit Smith was talented, but i would not hold him as the best by far. His years at dallas were made easy by what was considered to be the best offensive line in NFL history. Any player could of jogged backwards and made 10 yards a down with that kind of blocking he had.
