i know you can detect clipping when u run an audio file through adobe audition, but is it a practical alternative to setting your gains with an oscope? how could you even play music thru your car system and record it to be played on audition?

It sounds plausable, but why go through all the hassle of buying a $340 piece of software when a $115 oscope could do the same thing?

I'd still spend money on the oscilloscope. They rock for clipping detection.

o-scope = best way to detect SIGNAL clipping.

how about speaker distortion? There are software scopes out there with mics. Haven't tried any though.
