Adire, JL, or... what?

Okay folks. I finally have money. I am going to buy a real subwoofer.

However, these are the specs I need it to fulfill. I am building a system for my porsche 924. I want it to weigh no more than 200 lbs (total in equipment/boxes) all together. Light, in other words.

The kind of bass I'm looking for is this a single driver setup that is- TIGHT and loud- SQL. I want it to feel like that subwoofer is INSIDE my chest. It also has to be suited for my PPI PCX 2200, which deals out a respectable 800wrms at mono 4ohms, less at higher ohms. I'm not sure, but I might be able to wire for dual 8, 4, and 2 subs, the most power at two ohm per coil.

It has to be thrashable. I have smushed (Infinity's) a couple sets of delicate SQ woofers in the past.

As it should be light as possible, I was thinking a single 10" or 12" in a ported enclosure. I will be fiberglassing it into where the TINY porsche rear seats go.

These are the ones I have been drooling over as of late.

My max price would be about 300. The less the better though. I still need to paint the car (Gaurds Red with black stripes).

Adire Bhrama 10 or 12

Soundsplinter RLp 12

Sonic F/X Q 10 or 12

JL W7 10, 12, 13.5 (don't know the prices on these buggers, seems to vary...)

Any other suggestions for the best one to fill my needs would be awesome.

I plan to run them in conjunction with 4 infinity kappa 4x6's OR a single set of Koda Components. with 1 or 2 mid bass drivers on top of that (8" kodas?) to fill out the lower mid-bass.

I will use PPI full range amps and a PPI electronic crossover/line driver, in conjunction with a MP3 HU.

I don't have anything right now except the PPI sub amp. If anybody wants to sell me anything I've listed, go right ahead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Much higher than the drivers previously listed.
Roundabouts 700 bucks.

The FX is what, around 200, the RL-P is 220 or some such if you purchase a pair, correct price on their webpage. :p

The Brahma is like 379 but a complete pain in the rear to acquire right now.

Thanks for the replies!

I've seen W7's for anywhere between 1000 for a 13w7 and 280 for a 10w7 (used)... I am not a JL nut so I don't keep track of prices on their stuff... And people seem to like to steal JL in this area quite heavily. That sub is out unless someone has a real good deal on one.

In between 200 and 350 bucks, can handle an occasional ferocious thrashing, and has the in your chest feel... And the most output with the least weight possible.

You can get a new IDMAX 12" d2 v.3( parallel for 4 ohms ) for around $300 shipped. I recieved mine for $200, used. These woofers sound amazing. Weighs around 30 pds. and can be used in small sealed enclosures very well...

Why bother getting anything since you live in such a bad area. Come on really people will steal anything given a chance. What differance does it make what brand of sub you have. If it sounds good and you like to let everyone know it sounds good then you had better park it in a garage.

JL isn't cheap but you can find deals at some MOM and POP shops depending on where you live. I still to this day have never seen or heard any of those other brands listed by others. I have looked all over San Diego.

Whats with this weight issue, 200lbs???? Does that include you, what is it a race car??? If so why would bother putting in a sound system in a race car???? Your worried about someone stealing your subs but not your car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

What about a Brahma MKI 15 for 290+ shipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Its basically new, very little play time.

Its 43lbs dead weight, add a 2ft^3 sealed enclosure and your way under your 200lbs mark

The 15" may be too large for space, but If you are interested in the Brahma, send me a PM. (It's mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif supa_c is just helping me find potential buyers)

get an avalanche and seal it in 2.2 cubes. 800w@4ohms is perfect for it. (dvc2 coils, 4 or 1 ohms is perfect)

the av15 weighs only 35 or 40 pounds i believe.

300+shipping (like 320ish most likely)
