adire extremis or xxx mids.. opinions

I listen to A LOT of rock, all types....as well as some rap.

I'm not saying they're going to get a perfect score in an SQ competition, but I like them...a lot.

ya, i first heard about them in your thread at the dakota forum. also at this point they're harder to locate. an extremis can be bought direct from adire's webstorefront.

I enjoy my xxx mids. Being that they are 2ohms compared to the 8ohm extrem...

I would choose the xxx mids in a heart beat.

A XXX mid under high excursion will look pretty much the same as an extremis under high excursion.

IMO...

Ascendant mid > Extremis 6.8 > XXX 6.5

****, I'm glad I read this post. It looks like the Ascendant 6.5" is some pretty nice stuff, and it will replace the Extremis in my future project, hell of alot cheaper too, with that price difference I can get more drivers!! Sweetness.

more drivers.... yikes. Like I've said before, they aren't as bass heavy, but the midrange sounds better IMO and for $64 less... they are the way to go IMO.

It'll be atleast 2 6.5"s per tower.

They will be powered by one ART SLA-1 Rack amp, possibly 2 of them, (130x2 @4ohms, 260x1), this will be for my dorm setup for next year. Haven't quite figured out the sub setup yet, I'm leaning on a RL-i 8" ported to 25hz.

For that kind of price, it dosen't look like they can be beat, hell, ~140 bucks in 6.5's is a heck of alot better than 400 bucks in Extremis
