scratch that, i spoke to soon. looks like i need a recone:
any advice? I don't think I can get parts for these subs anymore, and i certainly have never attempted a recone. Id probably have calibration problems and mechanical noise out the hoo-haa even if i did. I have 3 dual 2 ohm VC subs left on my vx2250 planet audio. Each sub is running 4 ohms and at the very end i parallel everything to get 4 4ohm subs to 1ohm.
Give me an honest best option, this box takes 6hrs to disassemble in my trunk. Should i just replace it with another 12 that fits the specs .... a single 4ohm sub that handles the power that's unlikely, another dual 2ohm sub thatll cost a pretty penny or part it out and go with something else?
Im only getting ~1.5cubes ported per sub after displacement. I could easily build 2 larger ported boxes and fit 2 15s by a margin of a few inches. I cant get less loud though :S
How can I go about doing this? Keep in mind this would be my FIRST .... would you trust me reconing your sub as a first? I may be able to get the local shop to do it assuming i get the parts. Any additional info on how i can go about this?
edit: I cant repair this one because the cone is blown to peices. Theres a huge chunk missing from the bottom, and theres been tearing .... i can see the shrapenal in my box.
