For aeros the general rule of thumb is 7-10 in^2 per every 1 ft^3. 80 inches of port would be the most i would do. 2-3 6" aeros would be just fine. 2 would put you around 7in per cubic foot and 3 would put you around 10.

3 4in aeros would be way too small. I have that in my box which is nearly half the size of what his is going to be using.

I'm confused why port area is of such importance now... ie my last enclosure was 14^3 with 3 6 inch aeros and I had no port noise at all, granted it was only on 2k watts. A definite answer would be nice before I dump any more money into this enclosure... you guys have me second guessing all my previous builds. I could probably manage 2 6 inches, but I would probably go down to 7 cubes which would mean I would have to make them 26.47'' long... thats longer than any aero Ive ever installed.

Its of importance because of port noise. With too little you run the chance of getting port noise. Not to mention losing spl if thats your thing. Remember with car audio, there never is a "definite answer". Thats exactly why we have rules of thumbs because there is no single answer to any question. Only what testing people already have done.

I want to change volume because I feel like 8 is a bit too steep for the lms, especially speaking they perform great in even 4.5^3
