Which model are you looking at and what are you going to be running it with Receiver/Speaker wise?

Adcoms are generally well liked. They are fairly flexible with speaker loads and they offer good power for the money.

I have an Adcom 555Mk2, a popular amp from the 90's, tons were sold,

many on the used market, average price ~$400. I used this amp as my

test bench amp for years. Later as I started to explore proamps, I prefer

the used ~$400 QSC RMX2450 over the Adcom because the Adcom will go

into thermal protect if you drive a difficult load over a span of time, but QSC will

work through the difficulty.

Still running an Adcom GFA-555 on my present system. I bought it from my big brother and it's over 15 years old and still cranks.

I prefer the Adcom 555 in bridge mode, two of them per channel driving

8 ohm speakers is pretty dang good alternative to much more expensive

home amp solutions, but the proamp for the same price can't be beat with the

only drawback being the fan noise and minor XLR input issue.

I'm looking to get a used adcom GFA-555 from the mid 90's. I figure it will run better then some rock bottum new amp that has similiar power ratings. I will be running the amp with a Yamaha RX350 reciever and it will be powering two dj speakers. Hopefully the amp is in good shape and cranks, thats all I ask for.

Also, The QSC amp you mentioned would be too much for me. How is the QSC RMX 850? Nice amp?
