About hooking up iPod to the PRS880 Pioneer.

trust me I would look at the ipod for so long trying to find the song I wanted. The interface just makes it easier because it is on a bigger screen and easier to find the song.

I guess the 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack should work. My friend has a 7700 and a direct jack from headphone output to the deck, and he doesn't use it because he has to use the iPod to pick through his songs. I got the iPod bus system for my iPod and PRS880, and I'm much happier with it. The functions on the 880 mimick the iPod, and it works a lot easier i think. Plus, like has been mentioned, it charges the iPod. So i think the bus system is worth the extra dough. Plus it was easy to install.

Mine is set up to both CHARGE the ipod (via USB) and transmit the data to play songs (via 3.5 mm jack). Its pretty ghetto but this is what i did:

I used one of those fm-transmitters you plug into your lighter-socket. It has a usb input, which i ran to the ipod (actually an off brand mp3 btw); then I ran a 3.5mm jacked cord to it too; You cant see it in this pic...but I taped the two wires together with electric tape all the way up to make it as one wire. Its pretty ghetto...but it works. And my mp3 player (ipod knock off) NEVER Runs out of battery power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I got both the the Ipod interface adaptor for 39 bucks off Amazon.com and free shipping, so that was a decent deal when everyone else wanted 50 bucks plus shipping.

I also got the 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable from headphone jack to deck just in case I don't like how slow the interface adaptor is, which I have heard is the big thing that sucks about them. They did say if you don't have a lot of memory and is flashbased, then should work pretty good. I have the iPod Nano at 8gigs, so should be alright, but better safe than sorry. I did hear that the interface ipod gives off better SQ. So I will probably stick with that, but we will see.

IIRC iPods have a high pass filter on the headphone jack. If you don't use the interface you can lose bass response.

Well that 3.5mm to 2.5mm should suffice till I get my sub after income tax.

Once I get the sub, I will put in the iPod interface adaptor and I should be ok with the bass then, or I hope.
