A question for Alpine Type R owners.....

I have a friend thats looking to get 2 type r 12's and he was wondering can those subs pick up low lotes pretty good and around the freq does those subs peak at?

For the box he was gonna do 4-4.5^3 ported tuned to 30hz ,is that a good box for the best SQL?

yes those subs are great at picking up low notes... 4-4.5 cubes would be good... 30hz is a little low ... i would try maybe 35 or so if you want sql... just my .02

30 hz really isn't that low. I have mine tuned to 31 hz and it sounds great. About peaking, sorry but I'll leave that up to the pros to explain.

im very happy with my single type R in 2 cubes at 31hz. The only thing I can really compare it to would be 12w3's and I would go with the type R over the w3's.

P.S. the type ARRRRRRRR owners are starting to thin out.

dunno about a ported box but mine are in a sealed 3.5cubic box and they get low. they get derty low. i would put it at about 32-35 but thats me. Its all about preference.

R's are loud but not really all that great at getting low..

What would I know..

So they wouldnt do that good on songs like "Hoods run down" or "Late nite tip"

yes they would lol.. any half decent sub would... THOSE ARENT SQ SONGS. also, when it comes to rap music...30hz is VERY low

my type s will wang on thoose tracks so the type r will flat out pound imo

yes they get deep as hell

dunno about the freq they peak at however thats prob more to do with the box.

dont listen to expy.. i think hes probably the only person on this forum who would say the Rs have shitty lows. most people rave about how theyre almost bottomfeeders.

i have also built a few boxes for my Rs and the 30 hz area is pretty nice.. late nite tip, hoods run down (intro), my system, soul survivor, etc etc.. tune to 27 or so and itll be hard to find songs that the Rs dont love droppin down for.

and i wouldnt tune above 33-34 hz cause after that they get a nasty peak in a hurry..

if you tune in the low 30s, expect your peaks to be in the low to mid 40s, depending on the car.

Hell yeah they love the lows. It's amazing what my lil 10 does right now on the lows, and it's only going to get louder.

haha im more worried about types hitting high, all my friends type rs were hitting really LOW
