A question between aftermarket and factory HU.

A friend told me my system didn't sound how it should since I'm using the factory head unit.

Will an aftermarket head unit that puts out say 4 volts make a big difference on how the system sounds and how it plays certain frequencies? The way it is now, some songs play good but most of them aren't loud at all. It's like it's nowhere near what it could be.

It's two 15" Kicker CVRS in a sealed enclosure with a Hifonics TXi1008 amp wired to 1 ohm.

Of course it will make a difference. Most things after market that are of quality will sound better. Should give you better control over your EQ, subs, etc. depending on what new HU you get.

If you want to get it sounding "better" or "louder" i would grab some component speakers and amp them. Then you will see the difference you are looking for. I feel that will make a bigger difference than a new HU.

Well first I'll get a new HU then eventually get an amp for the components.
