A challange.

Ok, yesterday, I rearranged some things behind my head unit, which was working fine. I put everything back and the HU was working fine. After putting my dash back together I was planning on going to my friends apartment, but when I go to turn on the headlights a fuse blows and my dash lights cut out. I try replacing the fuse and when it blows again I check a few things and say screw it and go inside. CD player still works fine.

Today I test things out better. I figured out that when the HU was not wired up the problem does not exist. When I plug the HU back in the fuse blows and such. As a matther of fact the voltage at the battery (all wires still connected) I get 56volts. If I then unplug the HU the voltage stays high for a few minutes then returns to normal.

Best as I can tell the only thing that the high voltage hurt was the fuse for my taillights/dashlights, everything else ran as usual. This has me seriously stumped.

The HU is a Alpine 9835 BTW.

What should I check/try? Bring it.

...I didn't change the wiring at all...moved stuff around

Yeah, it was my fenangaling. I had pulled the deck,messed with it and put it back before I posted.

Lil bit ago I pulled the top of the dash and ran the wiring outside of the cage and tried again. Everything works as it should.

So it was something touching something, so I pulled the deck completely and I'll wrap EVERYTHING with tape tomorrow after work, even though all of the ends have gelsplices covering all connections. I may even pick up some heat shrink and bust out the iron. I wanted to clean that shit up anyway.

I= the tired

Thanks everyone that atleast read this!
