9mm vs 45 acp

Theoretically, it needs to only take 1.
I want a 9 because it is so much less gun to carry. Kinetic energy between the two is negligible on a soft target (ie. they both die/go down instantly if hit in any part of mass). Faster bullet travel on the 9 means better accuracy at range and in inopportune conditions as well.
Theoretically But in a bad situation theory goes out the window lol... I am buying a 9 as well mostly just cuz I like shooting and 9 is cheaper to plink with

less gun to carry??? my 1911 sub compact is same size as my sub compact springfield xd9 ...i carry both daily

Don't be scared of muzzle flip from a .40. Go shoot one and I bet you won't even notice especially if that is what you practice with from the start. I think this might be a lil over exaggerated because most of the guys who shoot enough to really feel and notice the differences are competitive shooters that shoot alot of 9mm. For the average person to practice with and become proficient I don't think you would have a problem with a .40 or .357 sig. I have shot and carried .357 sig and .40 for over 10 years and like and prefer both over a 9mm (nice velocity but not enough energy) or a .45 (lots of energy but not enough velocity). I love the energy of the .45 but just like the combo of energy plus velocity with the .357 sig and the .40. JMO.... Now if you want something to go to the range once a week and shoot all the time then a 9mm is great. But if you have to "do work" and hopefully you never need to, you want one of the other two in my personal opinion. So for self defense I don't think you go wrong with either. Kinda the best of both worlds energy/velocity and also a good compromise on capacity between the 9mm and .45.

i am a big guy, so i have it easier than most when carrying a concealed weapon. i carry a 5 inch barrel .357 magnum . (S&W model 327) i also have a 8 inch barrel colt anaconda 44 magnum that i inherited from a great uncle who is in a nursing home.

the .357 is a nice gun, but the 44 is a beast. in his late years, my uncle killed several deer with it. including a 9 point buck.
