I just got a new car, 99 Taurus, and in my old vehicle I had payed the place where I purchased my speakers to install them, after watching them do that I realized it was a pretty big waste of money but I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to get to the rear speakers, they are behind the seats does anyone know how to get to them?

Some Taurus' have removable wire grills over the rear speakers, but if yours does not, then you'll need to remove the rear seat. IIRC you need to remove the bottom seat cushion first, then remove bolts at the bottom of the rear seat back, then other bolts accessible when you fold the seats down.

The Taurus should have two grilles that can just pop out. They're just tucked in on the side, so they need to wiggle out. But since 99 was a parts year, many cars got who-knows-what and you might have to take out the seat back.

The bottom of the seat doesn't have to come out. Fold down the rear seat and there will be four bolts, one in each corner, holding the frame of the seat in place. I think these are 10mm. Remove these, then pull the seat frame towards you, and you can lift up the rear parcel shelf to get to the speakers.

It's really easy. Let me know if you have any problems.
