9887 whine, NOT alt whine

Ok, well I just installed a Sundown SAX-100.4D (which I LOVE) because my old ZX650.4 was a piece of crap and have BAD alt whine that varied in pitch with acceleration and it just broke.

So.

The amp is now installed, all connections are great, even got kmanian to help me install it.

Problem is my headunit still has whine, but not like the ZX650.4 was producing.

Whenever my deck is on, my front stage has an audible whine in the speakers that is pretty obnoxious when I turn the HU volume to zero. It is NOT alt whine because it does not vary with pitch. When I cut the HU off, it goes away (probably because my HU controls the power on my amp??).. what is the issue?

Anyone else had 9887 whine?

Is there a fix? Jacob recommended grounding HU to same place as amp. BTW, my old Eclipse CD3000 worked fine grounded on wiring harness like this..

That might be your problem.... I would pull the HU and see if it goes away with a better ground. I cant remember if I had to do that with my Alpine or one of my Pioneers but this has solved the problem for me before.

Haven't had time yet :/ we set the gain by ear and the amp played for literally six hours home and six hours back. And I never cut it off, I would play it at semi low volumes for a while and switch to where I set the gains at and stuff and it sounds amazing and the amp never overheated or went into protect or anything so it has to be the HU.

I have the same exact problem with my 9874.. I have changed the ground of my amp, I have grounded the HU to the body and I still get this shitty whine. I read somewhere that grounding the RCA's might work so thats my next try. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

This is happening to me no matter how i ground my pioneer headunit and with or without the rca's hooked up to the amplifier....Is this just a pioneer deck problem? Would getting a new deck of a different brand solve the problem?
