96 Geo Metro - worth getting?

I found it recently just outside of town. It's a 96 Geo Metro, 3 cylinder, manual, red ext / black int, pristine condition, established 40mpg, unknown miles, with an asking price of $2000. I've been looking into a vehicle with great milage because, well, it'd be nice to have one. I passed up the vehicle because a 96 isn't exactly new anymore.

If you had the choice and the money, would you have bought it?

not for $2000. my car is a 96. i'd look into an escort around the same year if you wanted cheap plus gas milage. i've known people with escorts with the 1.9L who took care of them and they lasted a long time.

SPL was a consideration. After all, having owned a Taurus for so long I'm really hoping for something that's easy to get loud in, but milage and reliability are first priority. The Taurus is only getting 20 MPG. It used to be 30 before the Transmission started going out on it.

I'm going to pass on the Metro after all. Maybe next weeks' Auto Trader will turn up something useful. Got my hopes up for a Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab. =D

Just don't wreck it. My mom wrecked a 96 about a year ago. headon at 40mph into a lincoln town car. The metro collapsed, and the town car had a small dent, and some scratches.

what year is your taurus? the people we bought it from said it should get around 20 mpg and iim averaging about 21 and sometimes the transmissions shifts really roughly and kicks into gear hard, is that you are getting too?

lol my friend doug had one. he just floored it everywhere he went because a) he hated the car and b) it had no pickup anyways
but yeah we piled 6 people in there. he floored it, and it wouldnt move //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

X2. Looking for a Tacoma Ext Cab, 5spd, 4x4. My max price is $10,500.

Found my dream toyota at the dealership. 2004, Beautiful deep red, 5 spd, ext cab, v6, sprayed liner, running boards, 40k miles. Almost shit myself when the dealer said $22,000! Shit, I could drive a redesigned 07 Tacoma with all options, off the lot new for $30k. I know they hold their value, but ****! Was thinking of settling for a Ford Ranger, but now I'm resigning to getting another late model Civic due to gas prices.
