8w7 lasted 2 weeks..

i bought a 8w7 from a guy that ran a 250 watt amp mono.

i ran a 300 watt bridged amp on it.

the 8w7 blew in 2 weeks.

Is that RF amp 300 watts at 3 ohms? I don't think it is.

yea. it hink the rf bridged runs at 1 ohm. iw as told that the w7 wuld be able to take it.

DD 1508 ..never heard of it. is it good SPL / SQ

i really liked the sound of the 8w7 when it was working. anybdoy have suggestions to a sub taht can take the beating from the RF T3002 bridged?

what kind of box was it in?

how were your amp settings?

im jumping to conclusions that it was user fault. the 8w7 is good for a good 500wrms and that amp is pushing 350rms ish.

you probably sent it a clipped signal. no speaker likes that, no matter how much power.

i had it in a prowedge box

uh

gain was set pretty high

Hz was set at around 160 i think. if i remembered correct..

head unnit was -15 db

yea..and i heard the 8w7 woudl be able to push up to 500.

and the birth cert for the RF T3002 is aroudn 600. and i think i was running that at 1 ohm.

but i read in anoter forum that "the w7 took it like a champ"

oh .. crap.

i just had my friend tune it today. and it sounded alot better with the gain up.

is there another way i can set my amp so it soudns as good as it was with the gain up?

may have been louder with the gain up, but i doubt it was as clean. a clipped signal, basically means when an amp is working too hard, trying to push more power than its capable of. if you looked at its output signal on an oscilloscope, you would see peaks, like mountains in a range. clipping, in simple terms, is when those peaks become flat, like plateaus. the power is no longer linear, and becomes dirty. thats very bad for speakers.

hmm.. i need to research more baout this . it hoguht i had it down.

and it actually sounded alot bette riwth the gain up than when it was down. it was louder and it was alot warmer and handled more of the frequencies that way. when the gain was down, i had to always ajust the Hz on the bass control for each song to get the full sound of the bumps.
