I am getting 1 Sub and 1 AMP

400 Watt Continuous Kicker CVT12, amp is 400W at 20ohm..

Would it be okay to run 8 Guage wire?

2 ohm you mean?

and a 8 awg kit would work for you, but if you upgrade in the future, it would be easier and more cost effective to go ahead and run 4 awg or bigger wire.

when i did mine i didnt get a kit i just went to rat shack and got 20 ft of 4 guage used 17 for power and 3 for ground...and got a shitty walmart fuse holder but i will be buying a differnt one soon

8g wire is safe up to 70 amps... you won't be pulling 70 amps... run 8g it's cheaper...

That just isn't true for the majority of people. I got over "loud" almost 12 years ago.

given that the kit comes with a 60 or 80 (contradiction in listing) it should be plenty for your 400w amp. probably plenty to add another 2 ch down the road if you want to.
