89 Blazer popping fuses with new HU

Well, title pretty much says it... had an old HU laying around and told a very broke friend of mine I'd throw it in his car for free, so we commenced to chopping off the stock molex plugs and wiring it up as per http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/GM-Wiring.pdf

Radio turned on fine... but it won't operate at the same time as the tail lights (not brake lights). When he switches the lights on, either the radio cuts off, or a fuse pops and the tail lights go out. For a little while there we didn't have the dimmer wire connected, but now even that's hooked up and it's still not cooperating...

Come on, I know someone can offer a little advice...

Thats happening becauase you connected your main stereo 12V power wire to the dimmer wire on the car. Try to find another wire to get your 12V from.

**** those instruction, Im telling you from experience the same thing happend to me on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. What I did to fix it is that I ran a wire from the battery

OK cool... had assumed you'd ignored my first post. There's no constant 12+ going to the stock radio that I can tap into? I tested the one I tapped into with a DMM and it was constant... is that to be expected?

There should be a wire with constant 12V, but im not sure. You can also get your 12V from your ciggarett lighter if you dont use it.
