88 Caprice Classic Build

Hey guys, first off sorry this is the finalized pic of the enclosure/lower trunk install. Gotta get the other pics loaded. Just got done from a budy at a local audio shop. 4 new 12" JL Audio w3's in a custom ported box. Jl 1000/1 runin the subs, PA 1 farad cap and JL HD 6 channel for the interiors. RIght now all Infinity Kappa stuff but soon will be replaced w/ JL components. Were gonna have the underside of the trunk lid custom done w/ a big chevy bowtie, mirrored plexi and some neons. Car is a dark creme/brown color so the two tone looks good. Right now on a crappy alpine deck but soon a Excelon 5v flip out DVD will be goin in. Box was tuned at 32htz, sounds great! More to Come!

thanks for feedback... dont recall saying what i spent. and ya port is firing back towards the cab. Very good output and low frequency response. Find me a better deal at basically $130 a piece we paid(almost 300 retail). and if any problems we take back to local store, brand new and no shipping or waiting nonsense. and got the amp for dirt cheap a few years ago. ive had hundreds of setups over the years and JL has never let me down.

JL isn't bad their stuff is just overpriced. $130 a piece isn't too bad but at that price I would have gotten DCON's.

cant remember the volume off hand, actually my bros car but i kinda got it hooked up for him cause i know all the guys at the local shop. I think the problem is people go off JLs retail prices. maybe im lucky but ive always paid super deals. ive just been to so many comps with people with orion, kicker, mtx, alpine, blah blah and with eclipses or jls ive only ever lost to larger setups than what i had. last year i took my 15" aluminum cone eclipse (not titanium) in a custom slot port on the same 1000/1 and beat out a 9500 mtx, Type X, and a solo x in the solo class. but hey everyones got what they like and think whats better. i just like to go off my wall of trophies ive gotten over the years =)

Also had a guy come into our shop the other day w/ a pair of RE12s on a memphis mono block and after hearing my 1 12w6 in a slot port he was wondering what the deal was lol. My setup sounded better and felt like more spl

and again maybe im biased cuz ive always got hooked up.

And DoubleDeez like i said your talking subs i probably cant get local. i know alot of the time shippng works fine, i just like these days to buy local for the piece of mind. For one i know the guys and owners and if i blow a sub on purpose and walk in theyll hand me a new one w/o a question. Im sure DCONs are good tho, havent heard them i dont think

Looks cool, I would not have used a cap on the 1000/1 since it could choke the amplifier of current but if it works go for it.

looks good to me, I'm more interested in seeing the actual build pics though. I've always like JL Audio stuff.
