860mp requires 50w speakers?

Hey guys, I just bought a 860mp and in the manual it said it requires a min of 50w speakers. I have a 02 sedan with the stock speakers still. Does this mean that I run a higher chance of blowing them if I don't replace them? Thanks.

if u crank it, u have a good chance of blowing them. heck you can blow stock speakers with a stock HU

the 860 is about 22wrms per channel, but when u clip it u'll double the power going to the speakers (~44w). therefore, 50w speakers can handle the clipped signal (although sounding like shit).

Well I don't plan on turning it up very loud. I have 2 12's and since they get loud as hell, I don't turn the HU up very loud. IIRC, the focus speakers are supposed to be pretty good for stocks.

It's 22 watts @ 5% THD+N, but only ~18 watts @ 1% THD+N ...
