860 worth getting repaired ???

There seems to be a short in my Pioneer 860. The tech tested everything he could and (barring some unknown reason) he narrowed it down to the HU. I'm thinking of calling Pioneer to see how much it would be to get it repaired. The thought of having to purchase an equivalent HU makes me sick but if the 860 aint worth fixing then I'll have to make the purchase.

Anyone know if Pioneer has a flat rate for repairing HU's ?

its completly up to you.

I forget how much it cost but somewhere between 100-200 if you send it to Pioneer.

If you really like the unit fix it.

The unit loses power (usually during start-up). It has happened a few times but now it just refuses to power up now. While trying to diagnose the problem it came on for a minute or so but shut back off.

Yep, somewhere inside the HU.

Take it apart, look at it and see if you notice anything odd.

or search your pioneer model on there, they should show up. I've repaired a 960mp with them and they do a great job promptly.

Shoot them a message and they'll let you know if they can fix your prob for the auction price or not.

They quote $57 plus $15 for shipping. They also have 100% feedback. Looks like I'll give them a try.

they usually change out cables, clean lense, and misc stuff free of charge.

I've still got my ol 860! works fine. I removed it from my ride to up to a 880.
