8 ohms to 4 ohms?

can someone tell me how to change my sub set up from being wired at 8 ohms, to 4 ohms

I have 2 x JBL GTO 1202D subs

and an infinity reference 1600a amp

and the amp can play at 600rms at 4 ohms - which would be perfect because the subs at 300 rms each, the amp is a mono channel amp

right now I have just wired them up direct, one sub just has a positive wire going to the positive on the amp, and the negative is going to the negative on the amp and for the other sub I have done the same, just wired the positive from the other sub to the positive on the amp and the same with the negative, so all 4 + and -'s on the amp are filled. so I think I might be over powering my amp,

also my amp blew up today, I dont know how? but I just want to make sure that I wire it up right for when I get my new amp,

so can someone tell me how to change it from an 8 ohms set up to 4 ohms please?

Yeah I dont know how, but everything was working fine, and the next day after I cleaned my car it just would not power on at all, so I will get a replacement in a few days, although im not sure if the power wire was the cause of all this? the fuse on the power wire was fine, but is there any way that the power wire can get damaged?

IT could get damaged by some of the jacket being cut or scraped off, then the bare wire would ground out against the chassis/body of your car.
