8 band equalizer on head unit what does each band do

there is a meter I cn change 8 bands from postive to negative but i have no idea what each one does cause they dont say.

basically adjusts amplitude at the frequency that the band is centered on, but you should read through your owners manual.

Do you know how to use bass and trebble controls on a stereo? That would be a 2 band equalizer. Add a midrange control and that's 3 bands. Your HU breaks that into 8 different frequencies that you can adjust up or down to dial in the frequency response to your liking.

That unit also has the ability to connect a microphone and let the HU set your eq automatically.

yea i have seen a 3 band but 8 how many are highs, mids and lows

Without looking at what frequencies each band is centered on, here's a breakdown of what you'll most likely affect with the bands:

1st band - sub bass(the kind that shakes your mirrors, etc.)

2nd band - upper bass/midbass, things like kick drums, lower bass guitar notes, tom drums

3rd-5th bands - midrange, male vocals, up into female vocals, guitar, lots of music information here

6th band - this is likely going to change the harshness of cymbals quite a bit.

7th-8th bands - sibilance(the sss sound sometimes heard from vocals), harmonics of many instruments
