780 Billion Dollar Stimulus Bill Passes Through Senate

Wasn't that what you were arguing in support of? I would think you'd be glad that it is in the form of taxation that you're getting that money, as opposed to them cutting everyone a cumulative cheque now and then making that money back on taxation later.
Or is your concern that your taxes weren't cut enough?
My view is the last round of rebates and this tax cut isn't going to do a whole lot. If people decided not to spend even 20% of the last $600 they got, why would anyone think 13/week would be any different.

I think the tax cut is just as shitty as gov spending as well. (cut gov spending if you want to give taxpayers money back, don't borrow and bloat just so you can give a "tax cut")

I don't have a good answer, I heard that the price tag of this stimulus bill could payoff 90% of the mortgages in the US. If foreclosures really started this whole cluster****, then paying off 9 out of 10 homes sounds like a better idea. Shit I'll even be the 1 in 10 that has to keep paying my mortgage, atleast property values would quit tanking.

UMMMMMMM this whole stimulus package is retarded. If they are going to do something make it more meaningful than 13 dollars a week or open up programs for businesses to HIRE AMERICANS so they can have a half way decent job. Once enough are back to work the economy will fix itself
You complained about the amount and how you would be receiving it. Putting aside the argument of programs, and focusing specifically on what you complained about, what would you prefer:

A) A larger tax cut, or

B) A lumped payment that is recouped through taxation

I agree the spending is wasteful and I don't like the programs, I was just responding directly to that one post, which did not echo the same complaint you are voicing here.

i can't speak for him, but after obama's campaign BS, i bet he thought obama would actually do what he said. i think obama's plan was a mistake with the tax credits anyway, but the people who listened to his BS about helping the bottom 1/2, probably expected to be able to buy more than twinkies and a gallon of milk with his "help".

I have No idea where to start with this. I do not trust this crap and everyday something "NeW" pops up. I do not however see how 13 bucks a week will help anyone...HAVE SAID HIS REDISTRIBUTION IDEAS SUCKED and he should put that money into the hands of BUSINESSES that will hire people! if 500,000 people get good long term jobs that will be more of a stimulus than his 3.5 million jobs that last a few months each! His wording is stupid as hell too because no matter how bad it gets he will say he saved jobs. All I have to say is between Obama, Pelosi and Reid we are being led by some real pieces of work...

boy our lawmakers are speed readers I tell ya..they voted on a near 1100 page bill 4 hours after they got it!
it's unreal. the largest $ bill in the history of our country, and they don't even give the politicians enough time to read it. their is also parts where they scribbled parts out, and re-wrote it in with pen. they didn't even have time to type it right. the money is secondary. i bet we find out, that they put lots of power in the bill for themselves. i know they aren't stupid. Japan just tried this spending BS in the 90's, and it made it worse. i fear that this bill really has nothing to do with the economy. rahm emmanual said "never let a good crisis go to waste. we can do things now, that we couldn't before".//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif where the fvck are all the dems? you should be ashamed of what your representatives are doing. it says alot. they bash bush for 8 years, yet say nothing when their own party pulls this crap. i thought obama was supposed to be the "most transparent administration ever". he even made the promise that any bill would be online for 5 days, for everyone to read it, before he signs. not only did he not do that, the people voting on it barely got 5 hours to read it. this administration has turned into a joke. i was hoping that obama would prove us hate-mongers wrong. he's not starting out well.

so how much will americans get? 780 billion divided by 200 million(Rough estimate everyone dont get one) that $3900! or even we have 300 million that will get it will get $2600?

can I has a reward for being employed AND paying my bills?
No shit! Unfortunately you will probably not receive anything outside of a tax hike to help give more money to others. Gotta spread the wealth bro, socialism at it's finest. Politics of envy.

giving people money, to stuff in their matress will not do anything. as if it matters. as much money as we're printing, it'll take 2000$ to buy a loaf of bread.

Agreed. Nobody in my area can even sell a house unless they **** themselves on their asking price because there is always a foreclosure out there that can be had for a better deal.

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?

A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children are expected to repay the

Chinese.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?

A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus

stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

A. Shut up.

If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If you spend it on gasoline it will go to Hugo Chavez, the Arabs and Al Queda.

If you purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan.

If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala

(unless you buy organic).

If you buy a car it will go to Japan and Korea.

If you purchase prescription drugs it will go to India

If you purchase heroin it will go to the Taliban in Afghanistan

If you give it to a charitable cause, it will go to Nigeria.

And none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America. You can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales, going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, beer (domestic ONLY), or tattoos, since those are the only businesses Still in the US.

I have helped my country out plenty of times, lol!
