#756

I don't, and never will recognize Bonds as anything more than a cheater, a liar and a criminal. TO me this record is non existant, just like his 73 home run season, McQuire's 70 home run season and Sosa's 66 home run season. Hank Aaron is the true home run record holder at 755, all earned by the sweat of his brow, not the point of a needle, and Babe Ruth is number 2, all while eating hot dogs and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Bonds does not deserve a **** thing.
So where is the proof that Sosa and McGwire took steroids?

You mean to tell me baseball players didn't cheat in the 50's-70's? or that many other players, including pitchers who gave up homerun balls to Bonds, weren't on steroids? Hell look at Neifi Perez, he got an 80 game suspension and no one would expect him to take anything.

i also wanna know what it took to get aaron to do what he did with the congratulations on the jumbotron. hes stood firm that he didnt respect bonds beating the record.

Regardless of whether he took steroids in the past...they weren't illegal in baseball at that time. It still doesn't take away the fact that you still have to hit the ball pretty **** hard. Look at all these other guys getting busted for roids, I don't see them hitting 50 homeruns. Hell some of them aren't even breaking 25 which is mediocre these days. Canseco admittingly took steroids, he sucked ***, couldn't hit a ball for shit. So he put up 3 years of 40+ hrs. But what about those other years he completely sucked. And to be honest, other than the year of 73 Hr's, Barry has been pretty consistent his entire career (mid 30's to mid 40's Hr's).

Sure the guy is lying about doing steroids, but the bottom line is you still have to have talent and luck to be able to accumulate that many Hr's. Not to mention...who's to say players in the late 1800's wouldn't say that players in the 1940's or 50's who lifted weights were cheating. Just like who's to say they don't come out with something in the next 30 years that has the ability to enhance ones ability to perform far better than steroids. Imo, if they can prove he broke MLB rules, it should be taken away, but as far as I know, MLB didn't make steroids illegal to the game of baseball until a few years ago and Barry has never tested positive that we know of.

Incorrect. In 1990 Congress had raised penalties for possessing steroids and 25 other anabolics. Fay Vincent sent out a memo in 1991 with the official MLB policy:

On June 7, 1991, commissioner Fay Vincent sent a memo to each team and the players union that stated: "The possession, sale or use of any illegal drug or controlled substance by Major League players or personnel is strictly prohibited ... This prohibition applies to all illegal drugs ... including steroids." The seven-page document didn't cover random testing -- that had to be bargained with the union -- but it did outline treatment and penalties.

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig reissued the policy in 1997. Before that "magical" summer of '98. And way before 73 HRs.

Ok, where is Bonds, Sosa, McGwire's failed test?

Homerun hitters aren't the only one's taking steroids. You can't just be some big bodybuilder and hit 756 homeruns. It takes timing, studying pitchers, and understanding the game. Bonds has one of the best eye's in baseball. Steroids help you recover faster from injury. I cannot believe I'm the only one who questions Cal Ripken. Steroids would be perfect for someone who played in over 2000 consecutive games.

I wasn't replying to whether anyone is guilty or not. I was just correcting the statement that steroids weren't illegal in baseball.
