$75 bought me....

I don't see too much on it out there. If it was a Kenwood, Sansui, Pioneer or Marantz, I'd say go for it.

I'm willing to bet that what you're hearing are bad electrolytic caps, they tend to go after 30 years.

It was a quality receiver back in the day. How much would those caps be and how hard would they be to replace?

All I see on ebay is a magazine from 1977 that featured it.

Well, is it safe to say that the EC's are definitely the problem? I took the case apart, they are Nippon Chemi-con 80V 6800 uF. I can solder well enough, but if there's a chance that the EC's are not the problem then I'd rather not buy new ones. Any way to test em?

They may not be the only problem, but I can almost guarantee the dieletric is toast after that length of time.

Guess you could test them with an LCR and ESR meter, but without them on hand, not really.

Great find, I thought I found a good deal the other week when I bought a pair of Infinity Primus 250 towers, a pair of Primus 150 bookshelves, and a Primus 25 center channel, all in like new condition for $220. I think you have me beat.
