I don't see too much on it out there. If it was a Kenwood, Sansui, Pioneer or Marantz, I'd say go for it.
I'm willing to bet that what you're hearing are bad electrolytic caps, they tend to go after 30 years.
Well, is it safe to say that the EC's are definitely the problem? I took the case apart, they are Nippon Chemi-con 80V 6800 uF. I can solder well enough, but if there's a chance that the EC's are not the problem then I'd rather not buy new ones. Any way to test em?
Great find, I thought I found a good deal the other week when I bought a pair of Infinity Primus 250 towers, a pair of Primus 150 bookshelves, and a Primus 25 center channel, all in like new condition for $220. I think you have me beat.
