6.5 Components for $200~

Few years ago I put together a very basic (and mediocre) system in my Nissan 350Z

It consists of

MRV-F450 AMP (50W RMS at 4ohm~)

and

CDT 61A i believe it was

I am looking to upgrade the speakers to possibly get more midbass response, I feel these speakers are lacking there. I already sound deadened the door some, and it helped, but I think its just time for me to get something tad different..

For $200~ or so, would there be any 6.5 component speakers that would be a upgrade to my CDTs? I know the person that is buying the speakers needs to listen to them to decide if they like them, but I am just looking for recommendations so i can see what to shop for and not go look around totally blinded //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for any info

mpyreaudio will soon have a set. you can get them from acoustic-visions.

plenty of other choices too. they'll all show up in a minute.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

upgrading that amp might help a little bit. if you wanna stick with cdt, the ef-61's are aroung 200 give or take some. i've been told the rainbow slc's have a nice, natural midbass to them. the crystal mobile sscs6 also have the midbass you are looking for, they run about 160 shipped i think?

Not to mention install. Just screwing in new speakers can be a bad thing. I had fine midbass with my EF-61's..IB in the door.

listen to the man! spending 200 bucks on components you better deaden your doors and create a baffle to get the most out of them!

i heard cdt's get power hungry, try bridging the amp to see if that helps with the midbass, otherwise try making a wood baffle instead of using the plastic baffle if you havent done so already... if that satisfies you, then you just saved some cash...

If you are looking for brand new I hear the Elemental Designs eDi 6500S are quite impressive. They retail for $250 but they are offering them for $185 as a part of a special forum deal....see http://www.edesignaudio.com/groupbuy.php

If you are looking for something pre-owned I have a nice set of Fosgate Fanatic Q's that I will let go for $175 shipped. See here for all pics, specs and info....http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169613

And I also second the other ideas of more power and a more "custom" installation...auto manufacturer's arent thinkin about SQ when they place and design speaker locations, like a lonely fella on a friday night they are just lookin for cheap and easy!

Hope this helps!
