$5000.....gone!

I was driving in my GF's car a few months back at about 65 down a rual highway when a screw from inside of the amp came loose and flopped around and landed on the amplifier's inputs and straight to one of the power rails. Before i could even stop the car, the new RD Audio 15 SPL Elite and two Powerbass 1500's went up in a blaze of glory. Sometimes, shit just happens so fast that you cant react in time.
This is true, things do happen. He had said though that it was sparking and smoking the whole way home. Now I'll admit, I assumed he had some car/stereo knowledge and I should not have, but I sure as heck woulda pulled over that car in a heartbeat if I were him. Fire+car+gas=fail. I think he should definetly go to the store manager, get his stuff replaced and done right, and any repairs needed to his car done. Best Buy f'd up for sure, and they need to cover their screw up. Ya the guys at best buy are jackasses and ****ing idiots that think they're so ****ing cool because they think they know so much shit about car audio.

 
So. It sounds like you already knew that Best Buy was not a high class installer. You just couldn't wait a day or two and go to a real car audio place. So you blew your money at Best Buy. And then on the way home your car was "sparking and smoking," yet you continued to driver instead of pulling over. And you didn't even do anything about it when you got home. Good luck getting anything out of this. Hope you learned your lesson, and I'm glad you're not hurt.

 
same thing happed to my friends car a couple mon ths back. he brought it to a reputable shop in our area to have his 2 dd3512's and plante audio 2400 x1 and not 5 minutes of demoing it outside the shop i was like wtf dude is your car on fire and sure enough the dash was smoking and the fuse box was shot but get this the shop did not have to pay one penny

 
OK heres todays update:

got my money back for the car....

got a new (and better) system with warranty

APPARENTLY...the guy wired it to the wrong side of the fusebox...putting the ground wire on the hot side.

thats the news....

so no suing involved....it turned out to be a great deal. thanks a lot best buy!

and about the car ride home....keep in mind that my stuff is in the trunk so i didnt really know what was happening....when i got home i opened the trunk and smoke spewed out

btw....the guy that put my system in was fired.......PEACE F**KER

They just left bare leads?? No crimps, tape or even wire nuts? Possibly they had gotten pissed off that they had to do everything twice and tried to take advantage of the situation.. Whatever the case may be, I'd drag them into a court room by the hair on their nuts..

best buy has insurence. plain an simple. best buy does not pay out of pocket for their mistakes. they pay over 3 million $ a year for their insurance.i think this year they paid 4.5 mil. They will MOST LIKELY just file a claim and give you your money. GO STRAIGHT TO THE GM(general manager) complain YOUR *** OFF.
put it this way. best buy doesnt mind writing in claims to their insurance company Y? B/c no matter what they will pay more an more every year for their insurance no matter if they have 1 claim or 10000 claims.

think about it like this. for every claim BB puts to its insurance company they dont care about b/c their insurance people **** them every year.

so just complain to the GM non stop call him every day 2 times a day until its fixed.

DO NOT bring this to court they will win this way. the have some of the best lawyers and there is no way to say your shit was not fried b4 it entered their

shop.
