$500 for components, what would YOU do?

alright guys, the time has come once again to do some shopping, I initially wanted to run the germaniums, and they are definetely still in the running. Does any other component set (6.5") compare to the rainbows? and stay in that price range, preferably cheaper. I had a set of lower end diamonds, the tweeter just sounded to HIGH, harsh I believe is the word they use for it on these forums. Do the higher dollar sets not scream at you so much? Any input would be appreciated greatly, and I did some searching, but would like more input before I dive into this project of mine. I have the amps, already, this set of components will be biamed to a px300.4 from JBL, which I do believe that is rated at 114 rms x 4 channels. Thanks everybody!

I personally haven't heard any component set that sounds better then the Germaniums for ~500 bucks. If you wanted to go active you might get better sound with a DIY setup...might.

I think you should look into deadening the doors and making them nice and then worry about some nice speakers.

Polk SR 6500's. If you interested I could go snag them for you. $450 is cheaper than I have ever found online. Check out the review on them at CA&E.
