Just curious to know if a 5 channel amp can be run from a deck with only 1 set of pre-outs or do you need an eq or something? Will the amp divide the signal to the speakers and the subwoofer?
I am just a newbie, but I have been looking for a good 5 channel amp as well.
I think that if you get the right amp, you can do this. For example, the Kenwood eXcelon 5 channel amp allows you to do this. See ftp://docs.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/OM-KAC-X650D-2002-KUSA.pdf page 12, 5 channel setup, option 3. I expect there are other amps if you don't like Kenwood one.
You probably need to download the product manual (often available on the product website) and look through it- that kind of info isn't often in the spec sheets displayed when you go to the typical website (e.g. crutchfield or cartoys or tweeter). The Kenwood one can likely be had for $400- the specs looks good, but it's likely very much a personal taste.
I think the main problem you will have will be control. With only one pre-amp output I think you will not have both fader and L/R control. Maybe this is not important to you.
ahh i thought they had 2 inputs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
