5/8" vs 3/4"

Okay guys I know everyone uses and sugests using 3/4" mdf for sub enclosures but I have a whole sheet of door grade 5/8" mdf (I build cabinet doors for a living). Door grade mdf is more dense than regular constuction grade mdf. So I need to know what everyone thinks about using the 5/8" for the 1.2 cube box for my two E8's on 500 watts. I'll use 3/4" for the face to support the subs. Suggestions? Tips? Ideas?

Yeah thats what I'm shooting for. I've always used 3/4" so I really wanted to get some other thoughts on it. I appreciate it.

Maybe try to get a lil bracing in there to help with the stiffness...? Is that your ride in your avatar? I have a 67 Camaro, tubbed, caged and ready to fly just need a dam engine!

Yeah thats mine. I have a couple, not spectacular show car quality you know. Right now I'm working on a '69 El Camino, just sold the 350 out of it and I'm working on a 396 - tunnel ram dual holleys, comp thumpr cam, gear drive, 10.1 compression, cant make up my mind on heads though. It will be backed by a muncie four speed and a 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. I know its a bit much but I really wanted to build something wild atleast once. gonna take awhile but it will be worth it.

with what you are doing 5/8 is fine

a little over just 1 cu.ft, you'll be golden as long as u do some quick braces on the long sides.

Yeah, with some low power subs and a little box 5/8 should be fine.

5/8 no proble with a box that small none of the panels can be long enought o worry about flexing, maybe just double up on the sub mounting side - you will be fine.

Thanks to all for the help I appreciate it. As for the 18 yr old brat with the useless smartass remarks - I think I've got enough sense to realize when I have the answer to my question. I don't need you dumping in my thread, thats probably the biggest problem with this forum these days. Complete morons making useless threads just so they can think they are cool by increasing their post count. If you don't have anything helpful, positive, or constructive to say then shut the hell up.
