5.25 or 6.5?

U all, ever compare the difference? I'm helping out a friend with his choice's He's bent on a pair of JL XR525CSi's because he found a pair NIB for $110. but others tell him he'll get no bass with 5.25 and needs 6.5. I told him if he's crossing his fronts at 80hz he should be fine? I'm going by the spec sheets that read the XR 6.5 will be flat to 48hz and the XR 5.25 will be flat 53hz.

So those that have heard both, is it really needed to run 6.5 over 5.25?

Thanks.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

?????????????????????????????????????????

The spec sheets are worthless. And 80Hz is too high, IMO.

How are these being mounted? On-axis in kicks, or in doors?

Whatever size he chooses, the install is going to determine low frequency extension.

In the doors of a 07 Toyota PU. tweets in the kicks.

Depends on what his goals are, how the car is setup along with the install, what kind of music he'll be listening to, cost, etc. But for people that appreciate more solid base [whether it's hip hop or whatever] the 6.25's typically provide better and more bass [depends on brand though, I had some kappas in a 300zx turbo coupe that sounded great as is]. I think on 4 door cars or SUV's it's more important to have 6.5's in the rear doors to balance out the sound if your front doors/tweeters hit fairly hard for instance. I prefer 6.5's when possible but you can search here 6.5 speaker benefits and see if the 6.5's are worth the extra $/hassle.

How do you have them installed?
Oh, yes.. I know thats part of th issue... But, there is practically no bass what so ever. Either way.. I can't change my install the my current car.. There is not enough room.. Well I guess I could make something fiber glass, but it's not worth the effort..

So I guess I SHOULDN'T complain, it just seems I should be seeing something..
