I drive a 2001 grand prix gtp. I actually was rather impressed by the stock (premium) bose component system in the car.
Now, of course I want somthing better. I have the back end sub department covered. I am looking just at the front end performance. I have looked at Focal Polyglass 51/4" components and also Rainbow Soundline. Either would be powered by a jl 300/2 that I already have from a previous car.
I am hesitant to spend alot of cash on somthing that would be only a mediocre increase in sound. I therefore have 2 questions:
1: would just putting the amp on those stock components work for me? They are already amplified by a stock amp, of which I am not sure of the brand. I have searched high and low for the specs on the current system with no success. The speakers do not list the resistance on the back but I would assume they are 4ohm sets.
2: Would either component set listed above make a drastic improvement for me? I am a big fan of midbass. Also being a big listener of trance/techno I will get good use of quality tweets as well.
I appreciate any advice.
