I ordered a 12" Alpine Type-R subwoofer Dual4ohms just to find out my Cadence TXA-6004 amplifier I ordered to power this sub, wont work, because I need to wire the sub down to 2 ohms, even though the sub works at 600x2 @ 4ohms??

Why am I so confused?? Im completely new to car audio, and noone has really explained and i've never read up on it. I just found out when looking at my sub manual that it doesnt have an option for 1 amp / 1 sub when wiring it.

soooooo I take it back at this point?

I need to wire it to a 4ohm load if my amp runs @ 600x2 @4ohms, right??

I believe I need to exhchange the dual4 subwoofer for a dual2 subwoofer so I can wire it like this.

correct?

The model is a TXA-6004 -- to be honest i'm not sure what to be looking for, I just know that I want to be powering my subwoofer and front speakers on the "4 ohm bridged 600x2" option.

Maybe you could tell me?

ohh your running them off a 4 channel you should just keep that on you speakers and get a 2 channel or a mono sub amp to run your sub off of you will get alot better bass and sound out of your speakers imo.

Strict on the budget, I considered it but not enough money to buy another amp.

The speakers sound fine as they are (in my opinion, get loud enough where they hurt my ears without any clipping or any real distortion)

They will atleast get a little louder and sound a little better with the amp right?

ya the only problem imo is you might have a little to much bass going to your speakers with your amp tuned to the sub unless you can get it to a half way point i mean it will sound better with a sub and amp on them but its not gonna be at peak performance on 1 amp but if your on a budget just run um on 1 amp at 4ohm and it should sound alright

Im confused, its 3 channel mixed mono which means my front speakers will be on two seperate channels and my subwoofer will be on its own mono channel so why would they interfere with each other?? The amp is pushing the perfect ammount of RMS to the sub as well.

If these power ratings are legit then this is a good option for a "whole system power" amp.

You will want to exchange the Type R from the Dual 4 Ohm version you have for a Dual 2 Ohm version so that you can wire the coils in series to make a 4 Ohm load like the diagram you displayed in Post #3.

On the amp use channels 3 and 4 in bridged mode to make 600w @ 4 Ohms to power your subwoofer. (You are just going to be running the single sub at this stage, correct?)

You'll then want to use channels 1 and 2 in unbridged 4 Ohm stereo mode to power whatever you're using for your front stage and give each side 150w in doing so. That should be more than sufficient wattage to effectively drive all but the most demanding gear.

Problem solved!

Prowler573, I love you. You make me feel secure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:wow: jk man but thank you very much..

I'm going to Sonicelectronix tomorrow to exchange my sub, hopefully I wont have any problems since I opened the box itself.

I got my amp and my box

and my wire

now I just need to learn how to install a system and get my sub installed.

Also, my speakers are Alpine Type-S and I have an Alpine h/u that I got both for free.

This is my $350 budget system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D
