40wrms to 70wrms

im currently running an alpine 4-ch amp to my speakers that give out 40w rms to each channel. id like to know if its a worthy upgrade and also a dramatic one if i were to send my speaker channels another +30w? my components/speakers handle 100wrms and im looking for an 4-ch that gives out 70+wrms

maybe, maybe not. theoretically you will get less than a 3db increase (double power theoretically is a gain of 3db). but it might bring out other dynamics of the speakers. i say if you got the cash why not. more power is always good.

i do have the cash, but im still trying to keep it on the budget cause im a cheapskate like that haha.

i talked to an audioshop and they said if i really dont want to spend more money on more watts, i can go with dynamat on the doorpanels...they claim my speakers will sound much better sound quality wise

you don't have the doors deadened? if you don't you should. improves the midbass a lot. a good investment. i think theres a sticky on here if you don't know about it, http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95925
