Idon't know what kind of iPod you have, but I have an app for my iPhone. It's called Signal Gen, and you can make any tone you want. From 1hz to 10000hz. Its fully adjustable, and you can download it from the app store. Oh yeah, it's free too

this is what i use. havent had a problem with it yet.
