400 Watt HPS/MH light $125

any 400w hps light running off 120v is going to pull a significant amount of current to affect your bill.
it's not a muli-voltage ballast is it? it would be better to run this at 220v if you're able to...

ive run single 1kw MH/HPS ballasts before and while it did pull its current , it wasnt enough to raise a red flag on the monthly bill.

Running just that ballast 24 hours a day shouldn't be more than an extra $20 a month. My friend has been using the same one for about 3 years now with no problems. The cmh bulbs also work with this ballast.

question...
assuming you were running the lights 12/12 or 14/10 on/off for a few months , did you notice an increase in your electricity bill?

ive been thinking about doing something , but i dont know if i should go with the T5 lighting or the MH/HPS route..

I ran the lights 12/12 and nope there wasnt a serious spike in the electric bill nothing that would make anyone suspicious.

completely dependant on what plants you're using. if you're talking about the plants i think you're talking about i wouldn't put more than 9 in a meter squared. aka (sea of green/SOG)
