I know this isn't ideal but I'm hooking up a buddies system and he has two amps one is 400 the other is 700 watts RMS and they are both class A/B. I know it would be best to run 1/0 gauge from the battery and distribute it at the trunk, but he doesn't want to buy the 1/0 kit when he has a whole spool of 4 AWG...so here is my thought...4 AWG can run high ampere for short runs, so could I run about 6 ft of 4 under the hood and through the firewall, them quickly distribute it into 2 runs of 4 that will run to each amp....there would be a fuse near the battery on the singe 4 run for 200 amps... I thought about doing something like this for myself but ended up doing it differently...would this work?

Haha thanks man, I agree....and he has the money I don't think he minds spending it all that much we seriously have this big *** 100 ft spool of 4 AWG that only like 15 ft got used from, so its prolly more like a "lets actually use the stuff we payed for"

Sell it and buy something that can handle any future power upgrades. Saving a buck today can end up costing you $20 bucks tomorrow. Just a thought.

P.S if he is interested in selling say 10ft of that 4awg PM me. Wanna upgrade my 8awg on my 9.2.
