Oh yeah, way more come area...Dunno what I was thinkin wow.
So what do you mean by the 8 coil power compression comment. Enlighten me...
Send 1 watt to a coil, you get a certain amount of output from the sub, and a certain amount of heat, as well as a certain amount of loss due to that heat (ver little at 1 watt in most cases). So lets say the sub really was using that whole watt. Now double that wattage, and so begins power compression. Those 2 watts probably turn into something like 1.99 as an example. Double again, and the real effective power is probably like 3.95, double again and get 7.9, etc. (this is all in reference to how much gain you would have expected from your reference point of 1 watt). Eventually you can keep adding power and gain absolutely nothing, because it's all lost as heat or friction because of the suspension, or a lack of BL because you're approaching/exceeding xmax, etc.
Not only that, but the more the motor has to do, the less efficient it is as well. 4 motors vs. 1. Granted it depends on the different driver...its not like 4 xplod motors will be anywhere near better than a single hdc3...
10 speakers with 100 watts each will generally be much better than one speaker with 1000 watts (assuming relative specs of speakers and install is the same)
This doesn't always apply, but in daily builds, where you're playing music and not just a burp frequency (which changes the whole game), it generally does, to a certain point.
