3hp motors

I was wondering if you guys could help me out a bit here. I was thinking about buying a 3hp motor and rebuilding it and blah blah. Anyways, is there a certain motor I should look for or one to stay away from? I ask this since I've seen some that are four bolts and some that are 6. I've never built or reconed a sub, so i'm kinda new to this whole process. So any heads up would be great. Thanks for the help.
