The advantage of these is NO CONTRACT required to buy them. Read the small print on the apple page you posted and then you MAY understand it. The link you posted is for a phone for $99 but you must get a 2 year contract...

Also if apple doesn't think you qualify for the upgrade to your present contract it will cost you $499 for the 8GB.
