the gain may have been too high and the amp was most likely clipping. did you use a meter to set the gain or did you do it by ear?

I just left is how it was when I bought it from 99GPGT. He was putting around 700-750 a piece into his wired at 1 ohm, Idk how much I am putting in there. I haven't received my DMM yet ;'(

the amount of power they were getting is fine. they can handle it but your gain being 3/4 the way up I would bet that you were clipping them barely and that sub just gave up first. the other one might be in bad condition to. i'd check it.

btw: having your box tuned that low doesnt help. type r's don't like to be played that low.

x2 i had my type Rs in my box tuned to 33hz for 5 months and they liked it. and it sucks to hear you having problem bmw, maybe the sub was messed up before you bought it? did the guy show you they work before you bought them?

Your sub is dieing. Hopefully you have a good amp that can protect itself from a short. Usually the resistance just increase to 30+ ohms.

just get 1 dd3512 or 3515 with that amp and go ported tuned to 38hz. the 15 will be just as loud if not louder than thoes type r's.

maybe you have dif pre out voltage than 99gpgt causing your gains to be way to high

It's fine. That DD idea doesn't sound too bad. How much do one of those run? I can sell my box to my friend lol

the 3515 should be in the $400 range new from dd, but you sould be able to find one here for less.
