360 RROD rate?

Heres what you do. Go to bestbuy, and get the 2 year extended warranty. When it dies you drop it off and exchange it. Easier than sending it in, paying for shipping, and waiting to get it fixed.
Shipping is on Microsoft's buck....

Xbox has quit paying for shipping to them and they dont send a box for u to put it in anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
they do pay for shipping but you must box it yourself. my brother in-law just had to send his in... turn around was 3 weeks.

.\my 360 (first one) last a year. RROD. Sent to microsoft under warrenty. I didn't pay shipping, i don't know what the guy above is talking about. Got a new console. Warrenty expired. 7 months later RROD. while it's not 'under warrenty' microsoft released the 3 year warrenty extension so any console that get RROD within 3 years of your initial warrenty expiring all you do is file another claim. I had to do this a couple weeks ago. And it's on its way back to me now, and again, i never paid for shipping.

There customer service is pretty good with the RROD. I've never had any trouble with them. and with the extended warrenty there really isn't a risk of buying a console that's dead and a complete waste of money.

My second gen was modded, and ran fine. But a small plastic gear broke, and that's all she wrote about that. I borrowed my cousin's extra first gen (they got an elite and a halo edition, so they had their original Xbox laying around), which RROD I believe 4 times prior, and they sent it in and got it repaired for free... I ran it fine for a year, and it finally RROD.

The fix (for the parts) is only like $6-7 bucks.

the new production ones are on a better motherboard or has been the word around the net. i recal they are or already have redesigned the falcon chipset and made a more stable 360 which should already be in stores now. I THINK.

the falcon chipsets still RROD but not as bad. overall, just buy it new and buy it with warranty. also, don't sit it upright when you use it. lay it down. standing it up will choke the air it needs to help cool it down. also don't stick it in a closed area like a tv stand or such. allow the rear vents to vent off at least 5 inches into open air.

yea it's cheap to fix it. But, with the warrenty i have to ask is why you'd try? It's easier just to send it in and have it all fixed. Microsoft even gave me a extra full year on my warrenty this time.

most problems don't show up till after warranty. even if you get it fixed within warranty it can still go bad. it's not like they'll extend you warranty on a fixed 360. which is why that $4 fix comes in handy when you know exactly what's wrong with it.

thats true but on RROD you have a 3 year extension after the factory warrenty is gone. Easier to just send it in, If it was more than 4 years old I could see tearing it apart.
