From a computer magazine (PC World), they recommended getting the elite if it was your first time buying a 360. They did notice a small increase in the quality in the picture, if you don't have a hd then you will not know the difference.

how did you exchange a 360 that was 6 months old? Or do you just mean you went and bought a new one?

And if anyone is sending their system into microsoft for repairs, be prepared to wait a lot longer than they say. They told me two weeks back on June 19 (I think) when I called. I'm just getting it back tomorrow, July 20. If this one doesn't work, I'm gonna kill somebody...

HDMI can look better if you have a 1080p tv that is larger than 32 inches. 32 inches and under you will more than likely not notice a difference between that and the 1080i.
